Dr Jena Valdez fell in love with the Bay Area as an undergraduate student at UC Berkeley. She is a graduate of Colorado State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, and is an active volunteer with RAVS, or Rural Area Veterinary Services, a non-profit group which provides veterinary care to underserved areas. Her professional interests include feline medicine, pain management and acupuncture. She is a Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist, and a member of the American Association of Feline Practitioners. In 2017, Jena became the Society's Medical Director of Prevention Programs, overseeing S/N Services and the Community Cares Program. In 2018, Jena became the Society's Director of Community Medicine.
Dr. Valdez shares her home with her husband, Ethan, canine companion Oscar, and two cats, Simon and Mietze.
