This is a fun two-part, one-hour activity for parents with young children! Please note that owned pets cannot enter the story time or be in close proximity to our Animal Assisted Interactions animals and must be supervised by parents when children are reading. Owned pets are allowed into the toy-making workshop only.

Puppy Dog Tales: Through our Puppy Dog Tales Reading Program, we promote literacy to stimulate a love of reading in children. Reading to an adult may seem overwhelming or stressful, so participants in this event can read to trained therapy dogs. We will offer three 15-minute sessions with a maximum of 6 children in each. This event is designed for children ages 4 through 8.  Please feel free to share a favorite book with the group, and books will be provided.

Toy-Making Workshop: For those kids waiting to join the reading group, they’ll be invited to make braided rope toys for adoptable dogs in our shelter. You and your dog are welcome to join in the workshop fun!
