Where to begin? Since adopting Layka two years ago, she has been the life of the house! We changed her name to Layka, as it seemed a better fit to her quick wit and blossoming character. It wasn't easy at the beginning, as she proved to have been previously abused--bares a scar on her face, hesitant with other Pitties/larger breeds, and has anxiety near fences/enclosures. But with lots of patience, and endless galore of treats and frequent outings, she is slowly but steadily blossoming into a social butterfly! She is the perfect running buddy (pushing me on those SF hills), beach bum, adventure pal and explorer! She has a total of 5 beds around the house (not spoiled at all ;O ), is a fan of Justin's honey peanut butter and loves those foggy day bed cuddles! Our family wants to especially thank the SPCA for bringing us together, as Layka has been a tremendous emotional support for all of us at the house. The passing of our 12 year old Pittie (prior to Layka) was one of the hardest moments and we didn't want to adopt for the longest time. Yet, after finally deciding that there was still much more love to give, we decided to visit the San Francisco SPCA and immediately fell in love with Layka! Everyday we fall more in love with her and cannot imagine our home without her!
